Inspector with a Legal Background at IVO in Stockholm

Do you want to make a difference and contribute to safer healthcare and social services? The Health and Social Care Inspectorate (IVO) is growing and is now looking for an inspector with a legal background in Stockholm to develop state supervision.

About the Job

As an inspector, you will investigate and assess the professional practice of licensed healthcare personnel based on applicable laws, regulations, and patient safety.

Your main tasks as an inspector will include:

  • investigating cases related to the professional practice of licensed personnel, for example related to illness (e.g., addiction), competence, prescription of medication, care and treatment, or record-keeping
  • reviewing patient records, prescriptions, and other relevant documentation
  • conducting conversations and meetings with practitioners under IVO's supervision
  • being the lead case officer in certain cases and co-case officer in others, depending on the scope and nature of the case
  • working closely with colleagues nationally, including inspectors from different professions as well as supervisory dentists and doctors
  • contributing to interdisciplinary assessments and joint positions.
  • making or preparing decisions in cases, or alternatively preparing reports to the Health and Medical Care Responsibility Board (HSAN)

The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period, based in Stockholm.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a law degree (jur kand or education deemed equivalent by IVO)
  • at least two years of relevant work experience from the public sector
  • good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

To succeed in this role, you need to be able to contribute your legal perspective in an interdisciplinary context where multiple competencies collaborate. It is therefore important that you have excellent collaboration skills and can work closely with colleagues from different professions. You also need to have high integrity, good judgment, and feel secure in your professional role. Furthermore, it is important that you can independently drive your cases forward and quickly see what is needed to progress in your work.

In the recruitment process, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

  • experience from court, e.g., as a clerk or working as a reporting lawyer
  • experience in supervisory work
  • experience working in IVO's supervisory areas of healthcare
